Covid – 19 Update No. 2

The Estate’s Charitable Trust has recently made donations totalling £35,000 to some local charities (including The Dudley NHS Charity, The Beacon Centre for the Blind and The Black Country Food Bank) to help hard pressed organisations cope during the Coronavirus crisis.

The largest donation went to The Dudley NHS Charity to support the patients and the staff, who are doing such a wonderful job in extreme circumstances. We wish them a safe passage through this turbulent time.

Covid-19 Update

As we see more measures being put in place daily to help keep everyone as safe as possible from the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19), I’d like to reassure you that we will continue to follow UK government guidance as it’s updated. We will adapt our ways of working and processes as we learn more.
The health and safety of our tenants and colleagues is incredibly important to us. Our thoughts at this difficult time are also with those who have been affected.
Our immediate focus will be to ensure all staff follow the strictest rules when undertaking their roles. Any member of staff who believes they may present any risk to others will not be allowed to visit any of our properties, managed or those we are trying to let and where relevant, will be required to self-isolate.
If the occasion arises where you need letting related services and you believe you might put others at risk, or you or family members are self-isolating, please tell us as soon as possible.
We’ll do everything we can to continue to provide our services during this challenging time. Our staff all can work from home and access all systems as if they were in the office. This includes our accountant who’ll be able to operate tenant accounts fully.
We’ve contacted our contractors and asked them to ensure they follow all stringent guidance as we will be doing. We’ll continue to work closely with them to ensure statutory inspections, such as annual Gas Safety checks, are undertaken in a timely manner. Our focus must also be upon any essential repairs; heating and hot water issues; significant water ingress situations as well as any life threatening hazards such as electrical, gas, oil, solid fuel issues.
We must though remain conscious of ensuring no-one is put at risk including the elderly, vulnerable and expectant mothers and unfortunately some delays may be unavoidable. We have written to tenants to advise them of this approach.
In line with official guidance we have had to postpone all non-essential visits to any properties until the Government advises that non-essential travel and social distancing restrictions have been lifted. When that happens it will take us a period of time to clear the back log, however we will work hard to catch up as soon as we can.
