The Lady Dorothy Grey Foundation is a registered charity closely associated with the Enville Estate. It dates back to 1755, when Lady Dorothy Grey gave a large property in Enville for use as a school and funded the education of girls in domestic skills. The property known as Lady Dorothy Cottage was sold in 2007 and the funds invested to provide grants to students under 25 years of age resident in Enville, Kinver and Bobbington to help them with the expense of Higher Education. Many grants have been made over the years to help such students.
The Trustees represent the parishes of Enville, Kinver and Bobbington and normally only give grants for higher education. In view of the difficult circumstances children are now in – being educated from home many not being able to afford the right equipment – the Trustees have provided 10 Government specification laptops to local schools, 5 to the Corbett School in Bobbington and 5 to the Brindley Academy in Kinver.
These have been much appreciated by both schools and we are sure that they will help their students to continue their much needed education in these difficult times.
